Growing Hinoki Cypress from Seed

For best germination, place seeds in a moist growing medium and refrigerate for approximately 21 days to complete cold moist stratification. After stratification, sow seeds on the surface of a well-drained seed-starting mix and lightly cover with a thin layer of fine soil or vermiculite. Keep the growing medium evenly moist and use a humidity dome to maintain moisture during germination. Place trays in a bright location with temperatures between 65-75°F. Germination can be gradual, so patience is recommended.
