  • Maintain temperatures around 70–80°F (21–27°C).

Growing Information

Windmill Palm is prized for its exceptional cold tolerance compared to most palms. It thrives in full sun but also performs well in partial shade, making it a versatile addition to many landscapes. Once established, it tolerates wind, occasional drought, and urban conditions remarkably well.

Its attractive fan-shaped leaves form a dense canopy atop a distinctive trunk covered in coarse brown fibers. This palm is an excellent choice for creating a tropical appearance in temperate regions where many other palms cannot survive. Young trees benefit from regular watering during establishment, while mature specimens require relatively little maintenance beyond occasional pruning of older fronds.
