Germination Instructions

1. Soak the seeds in warm water at room temperature for 24 hours.
2. After soaking, carefully scarify the hard seed coat with a file until the lighter-colored inner layer is just exposed. Do not damage the embryo.
3. Allow the scarified seeds to dry indoors for 24 hours before planting.
4. Sow seeds 1–2 inches deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix.
5. Use a humidity dome to help maintain consistent moisture and humidity.
6. Keep the soil temperature at 78°F (26°C) or warmer. Higher temperatures generally improve germination.
7. Keep the growing medium evenly moist but never waterlogged.

Growing Information

• Germination can occur in as little as 1 week, but often takes several weeks to several months.
• Sow three times more seeds than the number of plants desired, as germination can be sporadic.
• Once seedlings have developed a healthy root system, transplant them into individual containers at least 3 inches in diameter.
• Provide bright sunlight after germination.
