Germination Instructions

Sargent Cherry seeds require both warm and cold moist stratification to overcome dormancy and achieve the highest germination rates.

1. Soak the seeds in room-temperature water for 48 hours, changing the water after the first 24 hours.
2. Adding a few drops of lemon juice to the soaking water may help improve germination results.
3. Place the seeds in a moist growing medium and warm stratify for 30–60 days.
4. After warm stratification, cold moist stratify the seeds for 90–120 days.
5. Sow the stratified seeds in a quality seed-starting mix and lightly cover them with soil.
6. Keep the growing medium consistently moist but not waterlogged and place the container in a warm, bright location. A humidity dome can help maintain moisture during germination.
