Germination Instructions

Fill small pots or a seed-starting tray with a sterile, well-draining cactus seed-starting mix. Moisten the soil evenly without making it soggy.

Sow the seeds on the soil surface and gently press them into place. Cover with only a very thin layer of fine sand or growing medium because the seeds benefit from bright light during germination.

Place a humidity dome over the tray to maintain consistent moisture and humidity. Use a heated propagator mat to keep the soil temperature near 80°F.

Keep the seeds under a bright grow light or in bright, indirect light, but avoid direct sunlight while the humidity dome is in place. Direct sunlight can cause excessive heat inside the covered tray.

Keep the growing medium lightly moist by misting when needed. Avoid overwatering or allowing water to collect around the seeds.

Golden Barrel Cactus seeds typically germinate within 1–2 months. Once seedlings are established, gradually increase ventilation by opening or removing the humidity dome for longer periods each day.
