Germination Instructions

Texas Mountain Laurel seeds require scarification before sowing because their extremely hard outer seed coat prevents moisture from entering. Carefully nick or file the seed coat with sandpaper or a small file, avoiding damage to the inner seed. After scarification, soak the seeds in room-temperature water for 12–24 hours. Plant seeds approximately 1/2 inch deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix. Keep the growing medium lightly moist but never waterlogged, and maintain temperatures around 70–85°F. Germination typically occurs within 2–4 weeks under favorable conditions, although some seeds may take longer. Transplant seedlings carefully to avoid disturbing their developing taproots.
